Did you draw the whole thing with a tablet?
You know with your drawing tablet, do you feel like you're using a normal pen or is it harder to control? Because for mine, I just can't use it properly. Say, when I try to draw a curved line such as the tentacles you have there, the line would break in the middle so I can't even draw an entire line smoothly.

I usually hate purple, but I think this combination works the best with pumpkin

I sketched it on paper first, and then traced it with a tablet.
To me it is much harder to control, too - first because the pen is thicker than anything I use on paper, and second because I don't have a proper desk so I put a pillow on my knees and the tablet on top -.-;
These lines weren't drawn at once, because the canvas is huge, and I draw on 100% so I couldn't even see the entire part. Each side is made of 2-3 chunks. If this was the original size, I guess drawing it at once wouldn't be such a problem, but it's hard if your wrist is on the tablet all the time.
Hmmm I don't know, maybe you should try tracing your sketches, that way you can focus on the mechanical part of drawing until you feel more comfortable.
