Work in progress with explanation of steps.

EDIT: Since this came up a few times, yes I do know she looks too relaxed considering the pose she's hanging in, and yes it's a mistake :) but a mistake I made consciously. Originally I indented way more web holding her in place, but it would cover up too much of her body and wings so I chose not to paint it that way after all. I chose aesthetics over realism, I know ideally it should be both but eh sometimes things don't work out that way.

***

When I first started to draw in 2003, I was pretty much obsessed with drawing demonic women (as seen on my 2003 - 2009 timeline), or precisely women with reptile wings. One of these sketches was the girl in a gothic dress going through a demonic transformation or some kind. I was going though my old sketches thinking about revisiting some of these old ideas, and decided I should redo this one, but in a more mature manner.

I love my new scanner

Amazing concept and amazing artwork.
I don't actually mind the relaxed expression, to me its like shes finally completed a change and now shes free, free to leave, fly away. But that's just my interpretation *shrugs*

I love the webbing, how its all soft looking, the strands like silk or lace, but still trapping her. Your colours and shading are also well done

Thank you very much! :) I like your interpretation. I try not to use the "but this is fantasy!" argument much when people question things like gravity etc. but I just like the image much better this way.
I'm glad you like it, and appreciate the details.

The base is watercolor (Chinese white, Raw umber, Ivory black), and the highlights are made with opaque Titanium white acrylic :) I have step-by-step images with paints I used here: [link]

a arm in real life is longer than this,if a arm is like how you drew it,the hand should be at height of the shoulder...hahaha that calls himself an artist?

The background is lovely on this! My favourite bit are her wings - they look brilliant, like a bat but spikier! I like how it takes you a moment of looking to notice details like the hands and back, so you become more engrossed in it the more you look at it.

This is just brilliant. I love the webbing holding her up, I love her curled pose and I love the way the wings are attached to her, it all gives a wonderfully demonic atmosphere. I think in that pose her bottom could do with being slightly rounder, not that what you have drawn is incorrect, but a rounder posterior I think would help with the smoothness and implied serenity of the overall painting. :+fav:

I'm glad you appreciate the details, I think I went crazy a little painting them

I recently bought Epson Perfection V330 Photo scanner, you can read a short review of it on my blog :) [link]
But there are cheaper models such as V33 [link] that should be very similar, the difference is smaller dpi (really not an issue, 1200 is more than enough) and no film/slide scanning option.
